"You must be DYING!!"

I've been in need of a pair of black boots for a while. I've held off for quite some time simply for the fact that I live 30 minutes from the beach. I've figured, its Florida...no need to invest in boots with 60 degree winters. Well, Mr. Weatherman would surely urge me to rethink my theory. These days I'm lucky to feel my feet if I'm not sporting the Uggs. Flats just aren't cutting it.

So when I went shopping last weekend with a friend, I found these...


Well kinda. They were on a poster and I just HAD to have them. Of course they were nowhere to be found, so I just thought it wasn't meant to be. I went back today and just thought, what the hey, I'll ask about them. A nice little old man {who clearly works on commission} was beyond eager to find my size. Apparantly, there aren't enough pairs left to keep them on the floor. Lucky for me, they had my size AND these suckers were MAJOR on sale. We're talking in Rachel's budget on sale {which says A LOT!!}.

They fit perfectly and felt just as heavenly. Probably because the brand is Naturalizer. Alright before you even start with the "you're turning into an old lady" comments, here's my take on it. They are SO cute on and nobody will ever know they were originally in the clog section.

I took these suckers home and immediately started trying on outfits, all of which I'm DYING to wear now {deck that one's for you...a little Will & Grace for you!}!!

I had to limit myself to only these. I was uber-tempted though. Remember these...



Well I found a pair that are VERY similar ....

Of course I tried them on just to dream. The little old guy probably thought he was about to make bank here. But I declined with tears in my eyes {no not really, come on now}. I will, however, wait for these to go to the sale rack, which is when I will snatch them up!

Recently, Sara asked me my opinion on a color scheme for her guest bathroom. She has a major challenge with the green tile that she has to work with. I've been pondering it for a week and haven't had much luck coming up with a suggestion for her until I saw this month's copy of House Beautiful {which is my new favorite magazine, by the way}. I sent her an email last night from my blackberry because the internet was down, so I wasn't able to attach pictures. Sara, here's what I was talking about.
The picture on the left is the kitchen before, so just ignore it, obviously. But, I like this color scheme {obviously you'll have to change it just a bit to adapt to the tile}.
Same concept as in this bathroom, except yours would be flipped {warm white walls and green tile}
And replace the dark grey with a darker version of the tile you have and there's the color palette I think I would use if I were you. I'm no expert, so you probably will look at this and think, thanks for trying but no.

Trying to Stay Warm...

I know I shouldn't complain much because I'm in the warmest spot out of all my friends. BUT... its FREEZING here!! I thought the move to Florida would translate into lots of dresses and sandals. Little did I know I moved to a place that fell prey to this incredibly ridiculous cold weather pattern. So I've stayed bundled up. You can only make a cold weather outfit so cute, so I've been striving to at least be presentable like this...

And the best way to keep from looking like an overgrown walking sweater, I've found is to just really have fun with jewelry. I'm personally a HUGE fan of this...

...which you'll recognize from the December issue of Glamour, featuring our First Lady decked out in J.Crew attire.

And although these won't do too much to keep my legs warm, they sure are cute!!

And I'll just take this for my left middle finger, thank you very much.

My internet is being shaky and I have a "puppy" who just won't quit barking at me out of boredom, so this post will have to be short and sweet. I have TONS and TONS more pictures that I wanted to include in this post, but for some reason, blogger is being ridiculous and chose the ones it wanted for me.

Anyway...

This past weekend, I spent 3 days CLEANING. I'm talking whip out the magic eraser sponges and clorox cleaning. I'm talking spic and span. I'm talking everything perfectly in its place. And it feels pretty good.

I've done a lot of purging as far as decorating goes. I'm really into a streamlined look right now. More of a minimalism look. Basically clean lines and a more modern touch but still keeping that liveable feeling.

The more I dive into the blog world, the more I find myself venturing out and watching my tastes in decor grow up. I'll be honest, I've always been one for color and comfort, but this is changing. I'm REALLY getting into geometric prints and furniture with a more modern touch. Have I made any major purchases? No. But like I've said before, I'm collecting pictures for the day that I actually do get to go shopping. I always tend to keep these pictures in their file out of "fear" that I'll run out of pictures to share. The truth is, I probably download 10 pictures a day, so my goal is to be a little less greedy.

A co worker of mine introduced me to a really ridiculously addicting guilty pleasure...the show Madmen. For those of you out there who've never seen the show, its about an advertising agency in the 1960's. VERY VERY good!!! I couldn't help but salivate over the costumes and secretly wish I lived in that era. Fortunately for me, women in the working world have made leaps and bounds worth of progress, so I don't have to tolerate what women put up with many years ago. BUT, its still a possibility to dress like them!! I found a website {I'm sure you've already heard of it, I'm a little behind the times...} that specializes somewhat in clothing like this {www.modcloth.com}. And there are several pieces I'm just dying to have. The best part is, these clothes are in my budget!!







It may be 30 degrees here in swampland, but I'm dying to pull out sleeveless tops and summer dresses. I can at least dream by the fire with a cup of hot coffee in hand.

Christmas Part 2...

So I know that this post is a week late, but better late than never right??

Last Saturday we had the whole family for Christmas and it was a house full of people and puppies!! Mom fixed the most incredible Shrimp and Grits and we made absolute pigs of ourselves. I'm seeing a new Christmas tradition in the works!!!
