I promised a light read and I'm still running on addrenaline at this point. So here you go.
Gonna have to brag on my latest find. Bought these sweet little Ipod speakers at target. The best part about them is that they're portable and come with a case. Perfect for the bathroom in the morning, then pack 'em up and use them for my office.
OH YEH
and for all you Real Housewives of New York fans: What is up with that new girl, Kelly? I can't stand her. I swear, if someone talked to me the way she does to Bethany, I'ld go nuts. If someone kept telling me to stop talking, I'm afraid I'ld really have to hold down ms. right had because she would really want to slap the fire out of her!! AND someone needs to tell her that had she avoided the tanning beds and the sun for all those years, she would be ravishing. Too bad she looks like an old leather couch. SO all you girls out there who tan regularly, yeh you, QUIT. Just isn't worth it. And you know what's sad?? I know some girls MY AGE who already are leathery...and yall all know who you are!!!

OHHHHHHH I'm feeling pretty good right now!!!
Spent ALL day yesterday getting ready for another lockup in Thomasville, GA (which happens to have the CUTEST downtown shopping area!!!).
And by ALL day I mean:
8-4 Work...running around crazy getting everything together, making 75 phone calls, packing cars, etc.
5-7 picking up donations in Thomasville
7-9 Dinner at a HORRIBLE and Expensive restaurant (had a near death experience...apparantly I'm super sensistive to Balsamic Vinegar and my throat closed ... couldn't breath...pretty neat)
9-10 Work on transportation
10-11:30 Setting up
12-2 stayed up talking with LA about work
AND THEN...
we got up at 6 am and went NON STOP until just now.
BUT..........
The good news is we had a BLOWOUT lockup!!! I'm talking like $10,000 more than our goal. I'm talking give me the chills because we worked SOOO SOO SOO hard on this.
So when everything was loaded in the car, LA and I trucked it back to Tallahassee and treated ourselves to some shopping.
Bought a super cute navy dress. Will post pictures later.
And now, I'm just waiting on Ry to finish basketball so we can go to dinner. Speaking of Ryan...he was a great bf today. Im going to have to brag on him. He helped me with transportation all day had a great attitude about it. He got kind of an idea of what I do at these things and sees now that I'm not overexaggerating when I talk about how stressful these events get. At one point, he walked in with a stressed out look to him (which Ive never seen before on him). He said, ok I get it now. YEP.
So I'm running on adrenaline right now. Sitting on the couch next to Madison, soaking up all these good feelings!!
Next stop: Tallahassee Firefighters boot drive!!
OK OK OK....none of yall care about this. BUT this is huge for our office. We were down for a while and we are FINALLY pulling ourselves out of this hole we've been clawing our way out of.
Next time, i'll make it light and post my comments on The Real Housewives of New York or something like that!!

Well I guess its time for my weekly Monday morning post.
We had a fun weekend. Ended up not going to the beach and staying here. Had friends over for a pool day and grilled out.
Yesterday, after church, Ryan and I took Madison to the dog park (the gym was closed for his Sunday basketball ritual). Maddie had so much fun playing with the other dogs. After a while, she had had it. She was over it, so we took a walk around the park. There are a bunch of trails in the woods that really reminded me of Auburn for some reason. I used to take Madison on walks in Auburn all the time and there was one park that has trails that she LOVES!! Made me get a bit nostalgic.
Speaking of nostalgic. Believe it or not, I'm missing the lake. You would think I have it made down here in Florida. And while the beach is NICE...I miss the lake. Ryan was talking with some friends about doing a Triathalon July 4 in Marianna, FL and I said..."VETOED!!!" I had to put my foot down on this one. Fourth of July has always been spent at the lake ever since I can remember. I HAVE to be on the water for this holiday. Its a requirement. SO hopefully, I can get a free weekend sometime soon and we can go up there. Yeh right, I'm getting into a loooooong stretch where I don't have a full weekend to spare.
Got a SUPER busy week coming up. LOTS AND LOTS to do!!
Happy Monday!

I've been seeing the tabloids mentioning the new first dog. And I wondered what kind it is. I cant help but say, this is the first thing Obama has done right....
No, this is not a political commentary. I think he's ridiculous and full of empty promises (like every other politician) and I don't see any "CHANGE" but us sitting in this slump we're in. Thats another post...that wont ever happen. I hate politics.
BUT...
I love this dog!!! How precious is Bo?? I'm guessing a labradoodle. And if the mix of those two breeds wasn't enough...look at his white chest and paws. I'm DYING... I want one!!! May 23 is only a month away for those of you looking for birthday gifts for me!! :)
In other news...work has been dealing with a lot of these this week:
Yeh right. Add on about 20 years and 60 lbs and thats the group of firefighters I've been dealing with. We're kicking off our Fill the Boot season aka my summer. And we're starting off with our biggest campaign here in Tallahassee.

You've all seen them. The firefighters stand on the street corners and collect donations at intersections. Ok, Ill admit, I used to HATE it when they would come to my window and I'm ashamed to say that. Because they are out there volunteering their time to raise money for kids who CANT walk and I was always selfish and said, "sorry I dont have any cash." Please dont be like I was. You're all going to start seeing them in your neck of the woods sometime soon.
Its time we all quit hoarding all our money to ourselves and give back. I can guarantee you that you would give all the cash you have in your wallet if you met the sweet children affected by these diseases. I cannot even imagine being a mother to a 10 year old child who needs a walker and has dietary restrictions, knowing he probably won't live to see 20. It makes me cry just thinking about it.
Sorry for that push for MDA. I'm completely passionate about it now. Its the hardest I've ever worked in my life and the most rewarding job in the world...hands down.
thats all for now...its almost friday!!! Gosh this week has FLOWN by!!!

Had a super busy weekend packed with a bunch of Nelson family time and activities. The 5k was a success. Mrs. Nelson was able to raise $27,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and her goal was $5000!! She did a great job. I helped out at the water station (i said no thanks to the run) and hung out with the other non runners in the group, which is not many at all.
We got back Sunday afternoon and now I'm just trying to play catch up with cleaning and all that fun stuff you gotta do when coming back from being out of town.
We're going back to the beach this weekend with some friends and staying at their condo and I am pretty pumped to be in Destin and RELAX!!! The past several times we've gone down there, we've had agendas and no spare time to put our toes in the sand. Although, Ryan could care less about the beach...I guess that's what happens when you grow up there!
Nothing else going on around here besides the normal daily life. Work work work!!

GOOD NEWS!!! I found my camera...FINALLY! I know you're super excited too. I had it in my office all along. I was going through some stuff last night at work and stumbled across it!! So the good news for you is that hopefully these posts won't be as boring...HOPEFULLY!
I'm winding down the work week and packing my bags to head to this Heaven on Earth spot....
Yep...going to the beach...again! Guess its one of the perks of living in Florida. You can just jump in the car Friday after work and get to the beach in time for dinner. Be jealous!
I actually won't see much of the beach this time. We're all heading down to Destin because Ryan's mom has been organizing a 5k for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The race is early tomorrow morning so we're all heading out to support that. She has worked really hard on it and has enlisted me to help run it tomorrow. I do this for a living after all!!
AND...This morning Ryan informed me that their friends who are coming with us went yesterday to look at a few guys like this...
and probably came back with one. Baby Wyatts!!!!!!! I cannot even begin to explain how jealous I am! Heidi and Jamey have a Viszla (Wyatt) and I am completely obsessed with the guy. I really want one of my own! BUT they are super pricey...totally worth the big bucks in my opinion!
Hopefully they came back with one and I can play with it this weekend. OF COURSE there will be tons of pictures on the way!

Does anybody else watch this show? The Real Housewives of New York. There's something about this show (both Orange County and New York) that just mesmerizes me. I dont know what it is, but I like it.
Thanks to a friend, I am usually reminded weekly to turn this on and I'm not gonna lie...I'll stay up late to watch it!

LOTS AND LOTS been going on around here, but I'll have to keep it short and sweet. Someone has waited until the LAST minute to do her taxes and will be working on those tonight...oops!!
Procrastination is my middle name...perhaps the reason why it took me such a long time to graduate college.
BACKING UP....
Saturday afternoon, we headed over to Heidi and Jamey's for some Nelson family time. Ryan's parents got in around 2 and we sat around and talked (rarity with them...its always GO GO GO!!) for a while. Then Heidi and her mom went off for some mother/daughter shopping time and I opted to stay with the boys...aka work on the laptop while they played pool.
Turns out, the Nelsons are big Easter people. Heidi and her mom really get into Easter...REALLY. They were so sweet and got us all gifts, including the dogs. I got a fun tote bag and beach towel (soon to be used at the pool I'm sure), and Ryan got a 30 day pass to a local pool facility for him to work on his swimming for his tri's.
The fun part about it was how it was all so secretive. I guess it was fun because my family has never done presents for Easter. My mom has always felt strongly that Easter is about one thing and one thing only. So we've always gotten candy and nothing else. I can't help but think I'll be the same way when I have kids one day. Its so easy to forget what the REAL reason is that we celebrate Easter. Its not about the new dress or the big meal. Its about the ULTIMATE sacrifice Christ made so that each of us can spend eternity with Him.
But all that aside, the gift was fun and totally unexpected!! Then, Jamey's family came over for a big Easter lunch. And when I say big, I mean it. I mean 13 lbs of boston butt cooked in the smoker, 5 sides, 3 appetizers and drinks...lots and lots of them! **Apparantly I missed the memo that there is a Sweet Tea Flavored Vodka. Yall, I'm a sweet tea connoseur (sp??), and I'm not going to lie... I liked it...A LOT!
Anyway, the day was fun. Fun and tiring. I slept VERY well Sunday night!
Yesterday, I returned to another busy week at work. I swear, they just go by faster and faster each week! We had an event at the capital on the 22nd floor which was pretty neat...got to see all of Tallahassee. Not gonna lie, its quite the pretty town that high up in the air!!
And then after that, I trekked it over to Publix to do a big round of grocery shopping. I am so proud to announce that I bought food for MEALS! This is some major progress for me. Of course the one time I pick to buy a whole cart full of groceries is when the bottom has fallen out and its raining cats and dogs...seriously! (Monsooning...DECK!) Fortunately, I had a hungry helper waiting at the house for me who was generous enough to get soaked to bring in the food. And the best part was...I walked in to see...get this... Dinner COOKED on the table and waiting on me. Now THATS what I'm talking about!
Got a new haircut, registered for an awesome AVEDA raffle worth $2500 and helped out the environment while doing it. AHHHHH its been a good day.
Now to those stupid taxes..........

So its early Saturday morning, and I'm still here...
Just under the covers without all the pillows...
Last night, Ryan and I had our own little barbeque. I have been raving about the Hotdogs in Aruba ever since I got back (** yes I said hotdogs and yes they were delicious). So, last night when Ry suggested we grill hotdogs, I quickly agreed. Nothing says springtime like whipping out the old grill!!
After dinner, we watched one of my ultimate favorite movies, Something's Gotta Give. I don't know what it is about that movie, but I love it more every time I watch it...and I've watched it ALOT!
Every time we watch that movie, I always remind Ryan how much I love that house. It is practically my dream!!
And for those of you who for some odd reason haven't seen the movie, which go rent it NOW, here are some pictures of the set design.
Ok, so I wouldn't pick that rug, but I'ld like to say that if I were to have a house this nice, I would decorate it VERY similarly to this. I like how clean and inviting this living room feels.

And lets be honest here. If I had this pool with these lounge chairs, I'ld probably be parked here 24/7. Ok, I might go in every now and then...Maybe.
And NOW I remember what started my love affair with this movie. Its the kitchen. I love the combination of white, black and stainless steel. AND the backsplash is subway tile...my favorite! This kitchen looks VERY similar to one I posted a few days ago. I think I see a trend starting here. That, or I know what kind of kitchen I want.
All this decorating talk got me to thinking. I love the beachy/homey/comfy feeling of this house, but I want to put in some more modern elements into a house one day. And then I remembered, I'm OBSESSED with the house in my other favorite movie, The Holiday. I'm almost 99% sure I read that the same set designer from Something's Gotta Give designed the set for The Holiday. And its very obvious. There is that same welcoming feeling in both homes.
A shot of the living room. I think its the white, black and tan that I love so much. No color overload. Just how I like it.
This kitchen is too modern for my tastes, but I had to post it because it is so pretty!
So every time they show the shot where Iris comes in the her new "home" for 2 weeks and sees her new bed, I ooooh and ahhh. Who wouldn't want to run and jump on this guy?? This picture does it no justice.
*******
Today, Ryan's parents are coming in town for Easter. Not sure what the plans are for today. I know Ry's running (2) 5K's just for fun this morning. When I asked him, "why don't you just go run instead of paying to run?", his response was, "For the tshirts and the competition."
Whatever...I don't get it. I do know what I do get. Its 8 am and saturday and I'm still in bed while hes out running and getting gross. I like my choice better!

I may be early...
So I may be a smidge early...but I've put together my birthday wish list. There are items for all budgets on here :)
HAHA Just kidding, but hey a girl can dream right??
So I REALLY miss my little Lexington. I let her stay with my parents from numerous reasons. One, she turned in to my mom's dog when I moved home. She got to where she stayed with Mom, ALL the time. She didn't really want much to do with me. Second, Mom took that and ran with it. For example, she now wears diapers. I really cant have a dog wearing diapers. Don't get me wrong. I've always put sweaters on my dogs, but diapers...NO. Lexie will stay there. I thought my mom was going to have to go to therapy when I took Madison back with me. I just couldn't do that to her. BUT...Madison is bored and lonely. The poor little girl stay home alone a lot and she needs a playmate. So I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a little yorkie pupster!!

AHEEMMM RYAN...listen up buddy!! I would really be ecstatic with a weekend getaway to Savannah. REALLY ecstatic!!
And since I have to be realistic, I'll throw the rest of these in here for good measure. I REALLY want Photoshop. I cannot explain how much I hope to unwrap this!

Getting In the Kitchen...FINALLY!!
I'm going to have to say it...I've caught the culinary bug. I don't really know how this happened, but I'm rolling with it! I was looking at one of my favorite design blogs http://newlyweddiaries.blogspot.com and saw this kitchen. I am officially OBSESSED!! I'll have to keep drooling because its a ways away before I get something this sweet. BUT in the meantime, I can make use of what I've got and put that cute little apron on (**thanks BTG) and cook my little heart out!
I will have to admit, ever since I've stumble across the Pioneer Woman's blog, I have found myself saying, "hmm what do I cook for dinner tonight?" You know, it used to be something more like, "hmm am I eating dinner tonight?" And if I said yes, it was "what type of cereal will it be?" I can't even explain how many times Ryan has lectured me about my "terrible eating habits." So you can imagine how happy he is that I'm FINALLY getting in the kitchen, cooking AND eating!
So why do I love this blog so much??
Glad you asked!! Because this woman has dumbed down cooking to the point that even I get it. And yall, that is saying something. I can go to the grocery store and say to myself, "ok this time, you're gonna get it right. THIS time you're going to fill your cart with food that will make MEALS not pantry fillers." And every time I walk out with the following: reduced fat wheat thins, cereal, crystal light, milk, cereal, bananas, pork chops, chicken and maybe some green beans. I'm dead serious. Its been a problem for YEARS. Ask all of my previous roomates!!
So when a genious does something like this:
Oh my gosh, I LOVE it!! I'm such a visual learner. I have to experience things to learn. I can look at this picture, go to Publix and come back with ingredients for a meal. I'm not gonna lie... I like that she has a website for cooking idiots like me. Someone had to do it. And quite frankly, I'm embrassing my ignorance. She makes me feel like its not just me that doesnt know how to cook. She even takes it to the extreme of showing each step like filling the pot with water. AND there's a picture with each step. IM LOVING IT! And for all you gripers out there, you can just print the recipes if you're a snob and are too good for picture recipes. Me personally...I like it!
And I'll tell you something else I think I'll like...

And for all you gripers out there, you can just print the recipes if you're a snob and are too good for picture recipes. Me personally...I like it!
And I'll tell you something else I think I'll like...
Chicken Spaghetti. How delicious does this look? I showed this to Ryan and he said "So when are we making that?" Do you hear that? That was a WE!!! This lady has my man in the kitchen now. I owe her ... BIG TIME!!! Does she have pictures for showing him how to transfer his dishes from the sink to the dishwasher?? Oh I'll save that rant for another day!!

Anyone watch the season premiere of the Hills last night? I sure did! I opted to skip the championship game and pay my dues to dear ole LC. Here's a short but sweet convo I've had with Sara Caldwell about the show. It should show some of my insights.

Sara: yeah it sucks now that ihave watched the city
me: uh i never watched iti so think heidi and spencer are a totla scam
Sara: yeah i agreeit was way too planned
me: and what is her hair? serisouly
Sara: you can tell that they get their hair and makeup done everydayand what was with stephanie's face!lip injections?
me: she looks like she had an allergic reaction
Sara: it was strange
me: agreed
I'll be glued to the tv every monday night now...thanks MTV!
On another note, I've stumbled across a gold mine...a blog that is! All you girlfriends and housewives out there with hungry boys to feed, check this out.

RANDOM THOUGHTS
Ok so its Monday so this is going to be a VERY random one...Bear with me!!
Just another crazy Monday...lots to do, not enough time! For a while there, I thought my place had been designated the official Championship Game viewing spot. So, while at work, I was making mental lists of things that needed to be done BEFORE 7pm. Yeh right. Fortunately, I've kept it clean from having friends over for dinner Friday night. Its the same group tonight, so its not like I could have them over with it spotless and three days later let them walk into a zoo (literally...Madison has ALL her stuffed animals out right now and if you've ever seen these, you know she's spoiled!). Well LONG story short, we aren't coming here (THANK GOODNESS!) so I actually get to enjoy my time after work today. Ryan's at Monday night triathalon training and I just made myself a VERY delicious dinner. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I HATE recipes. I'm way to ADD to follow them. I like throwing together a dish and the more I get in the kitchen, the more I'm starting to like the process of cooking. Tonight I made a pasta dish with grilled chicken, garlic and....CAPERS!!!
Yall, its a love affair! I cannot get enough of these gross looking things! I had chicken piccata at Crockmiers a few months ago and ever since then, I eat them as much as possible. I'm sure they're terrible for me, but I could care less. They are delicious!
See, I told you this would be random.
Just hold tight because I have a lot more!
Who's this you ask? OH just a little band I've loved for years and years called Rascal Flatts. Why am I blogging about them? Ummm probably because I've been waiting on them to put out a new cd for FOREVER. And tomorrow their new album drops. Cannot explain how thrilled I am. For anyone who has to ride in my car the next 2 months, sorry, this will be blasting AT ALL TIMES!
And last night, we had homemade fajitas...none of that prepackaged fajita meat for these kids. We sauteed onions, mushrooms, bell peppers (red and green) and fajita meat. And I was feeling super domesticated then whipped up a batch of guacamole. I LOVE this stuff. I could eat it every day, but I guess I shouldn't...its quite unhealthy!

Back to food. Hey give me a break, its dinner time and I'm a one track mind type of girl. Friday I whipped up a batch of this goodness. Spinach Dip!! I think I got the recipe a few years ago when some friends came up to the lake and we did nothing but cook and eat for two days. Its really good, in fact the whole bowl was empty by Saturday, so I surprised Ryan with a new batch last night. Want the Recipe?
1pkg (block) Cream Cheese
16 oz Sour Cream
2 Tbspn Mayonaisse
1 Pkg frozen chopped Spinach
1 Pkg Knorr Vegetable dip seasoning
Its easier if you warm up the cream cheese to soften it up. Combine all the ingredients and let it refrigerate (best if its overnight). For display purposes, I use a bread bowl and serve it with wheat thins and pita chips. INSTANT crowd pleaser! :)

AND IF THAT WEREN'T RANDOM ENOUGH...

I know posts with pictures are more interesting, but I have temporarily misplaced my camera. I'm on the hunt for it, so hopefully I'll get some new pictures up here soon.
We've had a fun weekend so far. Friday night, Ryan and I had friends over for dinner and we all had a blast. Its become somewhat of a weekly thing for the three couples to all get together one night for dinner somewhere. Its nice for both the guys and the girls. They go off talking about their fantasy baseball leagues and whatever else guys talk about, and the girls get to be girls and talk about shopping and all the other girly stuff!
The other day, I was talking with a friend who may have to move for a job and she was talking about how it will be scary to move to a brand new place. I told her, yeh its scary and its hard in the beginning, but one day you'll be doing something not out of the ordinary and you'll realize, I fit in here! I had one of those moments probably a month ago. I think I was out running errands on my own and I started taking back roads (which says A LOT for me because I DO NOT know my way around this town...AT ALL!) and I realized, I'm completely content here. Its a really comforting feeling because for a while there I felt so out of place. I didn't know ANYONE here except Ryan and his friends and I desperately wanted my own identity here. But now I'm settling into a groove here and have friends of my own and I must say, its a good feeling!
To have a sense of belonging is something I craved for a while and now we have our group that I've grown to LOVE! Hopefully, we can all keep up our weekly fun!!
Yesterday morning, Ryan woke up at 4am to go to a triathalon here in Tallahassee. Surprisingly, only 2 out of the whole group participated. The rest of them (including Ryan) went to advertise their church's new coffee house. Poor guy was EXHAUSTED when he got to my house at 10 am and I was still asleep in bed. So we opted for an eventless day at his pool with Heidi and Jamey. Both of us are quite burnt. I figured, Oh I have a tan, I spent a week in Aruba. I should be ok.
Yeh right. My left shoulder is RED! Poor Ry, his stomach almost looks like Mom's feet did in Aruba. We're neck and neck with our competition on who is the tannest. I think I may start sneaking in trips to the tanning bed just for bragging rights!
Once we were all burnt to a crisp, we came in, cooked dinner and watched the Final Four games. It was really nice to spend time with them. We used to always spend weekends together but I've gotten busy and we've kind of just gone our own ways.
So, today should be normal Sunday. We've been to church, now Ry's swimming with his buddy Paul to get ready for his half ironman, then he'll play basketball. All the while, I plan on doing a little shopping since I didn't get to it yesterday!
Madison is pooped on the couch holding her tennis ball like a baby doll and growling when she hears cars. Just another lazy Sunday afternoon!

I don't know about you, but we've had rain ALL week long. And as much as I want to complain about the depressing weather, I can't help but be thankful for it at the same time. Last weekend, I was running errands and I had suddenly realized that spring is in full bloom here! Everything is green, flowers are blooming and the temperature is perfect. I know I will have to savor every bit of it because I will blink my eyes and the hot humid summer will be here!
But since there has been rain all week, I've been forced to stay inside a lot more and I've actually gotten a lot done. We're having friends over for dinner tonight so this forces me to clean up the place and work on a little decorating. I am TERRIBLE at planning meals. I have this entertaining anxiety I guess. I love having people over, I just hate being responsible for the meal. Fortunately our sweet friends are bringing dishes, so this should help me out...SOME.
No big plans for the weekend. Probably finish my taxes...oops I'm a bit behind! Hopefully the rain is gone and I can take Madison to Lake Ella to play.
Hope everyone has had a good week and has a great weekend!

Leash update (not that you care, I just think its funny): BOTH are gone now. I guess crazy across the hall realized they weren't doing any good draped over my railing!!

UPDATE: There are now TWO leashes outside my door. I'm starting to get really freaked out. I mean couldn't she have stopped with one? I have ONE dog lady!
And I'm really struggling to get up the energy for work. I stayed at work until 8 last night and with the rain, I really could use a lazy morning in bed.
JUST SAYIN....
